Clarisse Hahn is an artist and director. Through her films, photographs and video installations, Clarisse Hahn pursues research on communities, behavioral codes and the social role of the body. Clarisse Hahn graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and holds a Master’s degree in Art History at the Sorbonne. She collaborated as a critic of Art to the magazines: Art press, Omnibus, Bloc Notes, Crash. In 2002, MAMCO (Geneva) dedicates her first solo exhibition. She produces many videos, as well as photographs, circulating in international exhibitions: Palais de Tokyo Paris, Centre Pompidou Paris, Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, Museo Reina Sofia Madrid, Guggenheim Bilbao, MAMCO Geneva, Arts Santa Mònica Barcelona, ​​Miami Art Central USA, International Biennal of Photography of Bogota Colombia, South London gallery United Kingdom, MCA Sydney Australia, Beijing Center for Creativity China, Museo de Arte Raúl Anguiano Mexico …

In 2003, she directed « Karima » (98 minutes), a video on the daily life of a Sado-maso dominatrix that circulates both in exhibition venues like the Palais de Tokyo, and in festivals such as FID Marseille. In 2005, she won the Gilles Dusein Prize for all of her work. The same year, she directed « Les Protestants » (85 minutes), a video about the rites and gatherings of the Protestant bourgeoisie. In 2008, the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris dedicates a personal exhibition, where she exhibits the video installation « Boyzone » (work in progress, 1998/2014 / …), devoted to male groups. The Boyzone series has also resulted in solo exhibitions in London (T1 + 2 artspace) and Mexico City (PETRA). Her film « Kurdish Lover » (2010) is released in cinemas in September 2012. Kurdish Lover obtains the Audience Award and the French Film Prize at the international festival Entrevues de Belfort, the prize for the best film of the international competition in Forumdoc, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, the Grand Prize of the International Competition at the Traces of Lives Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, and the Special Mention of the Jury at the Women’s International Film Festival in Rio de Janeiro. She realizes « Our body is a weapon » (2012), a series of three video installations filmed in France, Mexico and Turkey. The series is exhibited for the first time at the Jousse Entreprise Gallery and won the Grand Prize at the International Competition at the Festcurtas BH Festival, Brazil and the Best Short Film Award at the international competition at the Milano Film Festival in Italy. In 2018, Clarisse Hahn directed « Mescaline », a first fiction film, which was selected at the short film festival of Clermont Ferrand and broadcast on France 2. The photographic and video works of Clarisse Hahn are in the collections of the CNAP, the National Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris. In 2014, the Cinémathèque française devotes a retrospective to her videos, in the cycle “avant-garde cinema” of Nicole Brenez. Clarisse Hahn is represented by the Jousse Entreprise gallery in Paris, which has dedicated several solo exhibitions of photography and video.
