Artifacts Travelling in the Depths of a Marbles Surface est une série photographique réalisée dans le musée d’Art Préhispanique de Oaxaca. Celui-ci présente la collection d’artefacts précolombiens d’Olga et Rufino Tamayo. La muséographie a été conçue par Fernando Gamboa, proposant cinq salles de couleurs différentes, correspondant à une couleur provenant de la palette du peintre. La collection y est agencée sans ordre chronologique, la libérant autant d’une approche historique, qu’anthropologique; privilégiant une lecture esthétique et artistique de ces pièces collectionnées pour leur beauté.
Dans Artifacts… La collection et le dispositif muséographique – vitrine, couleur, éclairage – fluctuent entre visiblilité et invisibilité depuis une perspective géologique (celui du sol marbré du musée) dans lequel ils s’y perdent.
