Cumbia del desierto
2014
wood, gesso, paint
110 x 45 cm
This wall sculpture, whose title was borrowed from Peruvian cumbia songs, was realized from the geometrical structure of “huacas”, pre-Colombian Mochica civilization pyramids. This wooden sculpture layered with gesso certain plans of which fluorescent send back to Peruvians “ carteles chicha “, posters silk-screened in fluorescent colors announcing the concerts of cumbia.
On the wall, this sculpture operates a displacement as for its representational referents to become abstract form.
