The new group exhibition “O des origines” (O of Origins), curated by Olivier Peyronnet and Emmanuel Rivière, with artists Clément Borderie, Emilie Lesvignes, Ha My Nguyen, Laurence Nicola, Olivier Peyronnet, Philippe Richard, and Emmanuel Rivière, will run from May 7 to July 18, 2026. The exhibition is presented at the Tignous Center for Contemporary Art and the Visual Arts Department in Montreuil. It engages in a dialogue with the Great Cave of Arcy-sur-Cure, inhabited by Neanderthals and later Homo sapiens, and which preserves paintings approximately 28,000 years old. This juxtaposition connects two spaces: the depths of the cave and the space of the art center.
“O des origines” explores the links between contemporary creation and prehistoric imaginaries, taking the cave as the starting point for art and human experience. The artists in this exhibition develop a collective approach based on the cavern, the imprint, depth, matter, and ancient memory. Their works draw inspiration from these subterranean worlds and extend them into a contemporary style, poised between heritage and current creation.
Through this interplay between surface and depth, the works shift the usual points of reference for perception and invite a sensory immersion. They also question the role of the body in the act of creation, echoing humanity’s earliest practices. The exhibition thus reveals a continuity between ancestral practices and contemporary artistic forms. Finally, it proposes that we consider origin not as a fixed point, but as a dynamic process constantly evolving.
