Lives and works between Paris and Tbilisi.
Elene Shatberashvili (born in 1990 in Tbilisi, Georgia) lives and works between Paris and Tbilisi. She graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2019 before continuing her studies through the ASA postgraduate programme in Hamburg, where she completed a four-month residency from November 2020 to March 2021. After working in Tbilisi until early 2022, she returned to settle in Paris. Shatberashvili’s painting is rooted in an autobiographical practice in which self-portraits, intimate scenes, and references to her personal history and to Georgia occupy a central place. Her work develops a sensitive pictorial language shaped by memory, identity, and everyday experience.
Recent solo exhibitions include Quatre at La Verrière – Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, Brussels (2026); Crimson at Villa Atrata, Angles-sur-l’Anglin, and Oblique at Frank Elbaz, Paris (2025); Paintings and Drawings at Villa Atrata, Paris, curated by Gil Presti (2024); as well as solo exhibitions at GB Agency, Paris (2023), and Breeze 3: Elene Shatberashvili and Ouissila Arras at GB Agency (2021). Her work has also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including at Centre Pompidou-Metz (2025); Jousse Entreprise, Frank Elbaz, LC Queisser, and Atlas & Gallery Artbeat in Paris (2024); MO.CO. Montpellier and Perrotin Paris (2023); Fondation Pernod Ricard, the Contemporary Art Centre of Perpignan, GB Agency, and Jousse Entreprise (2022); as well as Eigen + Art, Leipzig, Tajan The Gallery, Paris, TRAP TRAP, Bogotá, the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, and IESA Paris. Her work was also presented as part of the Révélations Emerige 2020 competition in Paris and Toulon.
