Hors les murs 21 juillet 2025 - 21 juillet 2025We are pleased to announce that artist Madeleine Roger-Lacan has been awarded the 2025 Pierre Cardin Prize for Painting.
Pierre Cardin (1922–2020), a late and much-admired member of the Academy, wished to encourage younger generations of artists by creating five prizes to recognize outstanding achievement in painting, sculpture, architecture, printmaking/drawing, and musical composition. These annual awards, granted on the recommendation of each corresponding section of the Academy, each carry a prize of €8,000 thanks to the generous support of Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin.
Madeleine Roger-Lacan’s work explores the layers of consciousness in relation to the complexity of desire and the imagination of female sexuality. Her practice, which combines painting, sculpture, and installation, is nourished by a sensual imagination, references to popular culture, and a sustained focus on the body.
