process: quantification of an artist’s work time (Julien Prévieux)
An artist (Julien Prévieux) is given a notebook composed of four accordion foldout pages covered with rows of boxes to check. For four weeks, the artist/guinea pig checks the boxes, color-coded for type of time: non-artistic time, low intensity artistic time, creative time, and peaks of creativity. The recorded data is then processed and recreated in the form of diagrams with comments. We thus learn, for instance, that the artist sleeps at night, works an average of 11h29’15” on working days, and excels during digestion. An installation documents the process.
