We are pleased to announce the inauguration of La carte du Ciel by Louidgi Beltrame this Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 4pm to midnight in Floirac. This work in the public space was commissioned by Garonne, at the invitation of Catherine David.
La Carte du Ciel is a horizontal piece that unfolds on the ground over four hundred square meters. It is a monument to the international astronomical project of the same name, launched in 1887 at the instigation of the Paris Observatory, to map and record the coordinates of millions of stars in the celestial sphere. The work was designed to be placed in the heart of the public space, to be crossed, and thus “activated” by the bodies of passers-by.
