ANGE LECCIA | (D’) Après Monet – Contrepoint contemporain

Hors les murs 2 March 2022 - 5 September 2022

Address : Musée de l'Orangerie, Jardin des Tuileries, Place de la Concorde (côté Seine), 75001 Paris

“At the instigation of the Musée de l’Orangerie, Ange Leccia has created a video arrangement, (D’) Après Monet. It proposes to feel and read the polysemy of Claude Monet’s Water Lilies from the genesis of this masterful work, its relationship with the garden of Giverny, with the light and the seasons. The video arrangement composed by Ange Leccia also underlines the link between Monet’s work and American and European abstractions, but also with Japanese culture.

The title of the piece, (D’) Après Monet (From/After Monet), expresses with extreme concision the ambition of the work conceived in 2020 by Ange Leccia. The mention “(D’) Après” marks the homage of one of the main actors of the French artistic scene to the master of the previous century. It is also a look at the masterpiece of the Water Lilies and the founding principle that it represents for many artists.

Ange Leccia offers the viewer a sensitive and spiritual experience, a plunge into the colorful and moving universe of Monet, a temporal crossing.”
