Biography

Born in 1991 in Auckland, she lives and works in Margate, UK.

Miranda Webster paints from life, a process of careful observation and the slow accumulation of detail.

This attention is focused on the peeling paint on her studio window, the tabletop stained by years of creation, and the folds and imperfections of her own skin. Increasingly, sculptural objects and installations are being designed to become the subjects of her paintings, exploring physical sensation, corporeality, contact, and tension.

Her recent exhibitions include “Seeing in Painting” at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Les Sables-d’Olonne, the Estrine Museum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Dole, as well as “I Need to Calm Down” at Mendes Wood, Brussels.
