Biography

Born in 1997. Lives and works in Pantin.

Clément Courgeon graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 2021 with highest honors and also studied at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles in 2020.

The artist describes his work as “a burrow,
a refuge in absurdity. It takes shape through the convergence of multiple mediums: photography, performance, painting, costume and prop making. These elements come together to form an environment conducive to triggering my performances.”

In 2022, he exhibited at the 72nd edition of Jeune Création and won the Cabane Georgina, Villa Noailles, and Art-Exprim prizes. That same year, he also won the Multimedia Prize from the Fondation de France.

In 2021, the Nantes School of Fine Arts hosted his solo exhibition, “ba c’çasbot du goliard.” Clément Courgeon also completed a residency in 2022 at the French Institute in Vilnius, Lithuania, and performed for numerous artists, including Felix Gonzalez-Torres, at the Bourse de Commerce in 2022.

Clément Courgeon has presented his work in numerous group exhibitions at CNEAI, POUSH, the Siegfried Contemporary in London, Villa Belleville, and notably at La Galerie, the contemporary art center in Noisy-le-Sec.
