The Jousse Entreprise gallery invites Clément Courgeon to perform within the *kith and kin* exhibition on Friday, July 10, at 6:30 PM.
Clément Courgeon’s (b. 1997) artistic practice unfolds through mediums such as sculpture, drawing, film, and costume. The artist adopts the personas of various iconic popular figures to examine the mechanisms that govern and structure our societies. Alternately embodying a clown, wrestler, peddler, jester, or trickster, Courgeon draws upon, blends, and synthesizes images, actions, and references. He thus gives life to autonomous characters—deeply maladjusted or clumsy figures—whose presence disrupts collective certainties and habits. These works frequently position his own body as both the primary object and subject, as seen in his current research.
