Galerie Jousse Entreprise is pleased to announce the participation of artist Anne-Charlotte Finel in the exhibition “Vaisseaux” (Vessels) at the Crypt of the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Nantes.
It is in this subterranean space of the Nantes Cathedral crypts that Anne-Charlotte Finel presents her project for the 2026 Voyage à Nantes festival, which draws on the fluid sensibility of the four elements: earth, water, air, and fire. In the more recently constructed section of the crypts, the artist has conceived a path where the artworks engage in a dialogue with the foundations, conceiving of the cathedral as both a vessel and a sentinel.
For over ten years, the artist has been developing a video practice attentive to peri-urban landscapes, territories where human infrastructure and an unfamiliar bestiary coexist, sometimes merging with those of the machine. Speed, surveillance, energy production: these are all strategic and control mechanisms, in tension with the more prosaic context in which this power is deployed. The everyday is lifted out of its banality by the sensitive gaze of Anne-Charlotte Finel on marginal environments which offer the astonishing spectacle of diversity.
