CLAUDIO COLTORTI

Born in Napoli in 1989, Claudio Coltorti lives between Paris and Athens.

Claudio Coltorti graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2016. He has exhibited his work extensively in solo shows in France (galerie Maïa Muller 2021; galerie Hussenot 2023, 2025) and Napoli (galleria Acappella 2020, 2022, 2024). In 2023, he takes part in Pittura Italiana Contemporanea exhibition of the Triennale di Milano, invited by Damiano Gulli. His work was shown as part of group exhibitions in Italy, Greece, Belgium and France.

Claudio’s paintings balance between figurative and abstract, like a dance between dream and reality. He uses art history as a departure point, analyzing the work of great masters to learn and evolve his own practice. He aims to create paintings that belong entirely to painting, pictures that are not tied to one specific era but can speak across time. He builds his works layer by layer, allowing the pigment to fuse and settle deep within the fabric of the canvas. According to the artist, a picture is not a fixed image. He doesn’t want to impose it on the audience. It is constantly changing, if not physically then metaphysically in the viewer’s mind. His paintings feel deeply personal and universal at the same time, as if they are emerging from the fog of forgotten memories.
