Galerie Jousse Entreprise is delighted to announce the participation of Jennifer Caubet in the 9th edition of the Anglet Biennial.<\/p>\n
The Anglet Biennial of Contemporary Art will be presenting its 9th edition from 6 July to 19 October 2024, based on an artistic itinerary entrusted by the town of Anglet, organiser of the event, to Didier Arnaudet, art critic, curator and writer.<\/p>\n
While the Biennial remains anchored by the ocean, it is also taking shape in the heart of the town, within its walls. Experimentation, the current scene and a historical perspective, contemporary and heritage works interact and intertwine.<\/p>\n
In this way, the Anglet Biennial is taking up residence on the coast, at La Barre, the meeting point of the ocean and the mouth of the Adour, with ephemeral, original works produced in situ, the challenge of which is to confront the immensity of the Atlantic. The exhibition is also taking place in the heart of the town, in the two emblematic venues of Anglet’s Centre d’art contemporain: the Villa Beatrix Enea and the Galerie Georges-Pompidou, where two exhibitions will be presented, one historical, with works by major artists based around the gallery owner and writer Jean Fr\u00e9mon, and the other from the current scene. \u2018Didier Arnaudet comments: \u2018In this way, the time of reference points and the tremors of experimentation, the piled-up thickness of history and the uncertain call of the present will come face to face.<\/p>\n
Jennifer Caubet’s project:
\nAgora, 2024, 5 weather vane flags, aluminium, printed canvas, stainless steel cable each 600X200X12cm<\/p>\n
This installation features flags and their metal masts, as well as benches. The way the flags are hung is inspired by the system of gallows masts, and here they become a sculptural object, somewhere between technical sophistication and imaginary projection. The flag bears a design based on circular motifs that intersect, expand and become denser, like zones of influence, appropriation and negotiation. The flags form a whole, like a great fresco divided into several elements that come and go with the wind. The benches encourage discussion, contemplation and a poetic inhabitation of the landscape.<\/p>\n
